Our first year soccer team narrowly lost out in their regional final today in Donabate. It was evenly matched from the start. Every Loreto player pushed their boundaries and worked hard. Fifteen minutes in, Donabate opened the scoring with a great goal. The girls immedietly reset and worked even harder. They ran, tackled, kicked and blocked to no end. It was back and forth for the next ten minutes. By the time the half-time whistle blew there had been several great goal attempts from both sides. The defence was brilliant the whole match: Sadie Smith, Katie Concannon, Sadhbh Walsh, Zara Chambers and our phenomenal goalie Bellarose Callaghan. Late in the second half Donabate scored their second goal after we got caught on the counter. However, the girls didn’t let it faze them and fought right until the final whistle.
Well done to our ‘Woman Of The Match’ Millie Mcclinton who was brilliant in midfield. Also a special mention to Lucy Doyle, Poppy Kiernan, Sadhbh Walsh, Zara Chambers and Bellarose Callaghan who have represented the school with pride all year by playing for the first year and junior soccer squads. In this case, they played the game today after playing a final just yesterday. Well done to everyone! Thank you to our coaches Ms Gargan and Mr Curtis for their hard work throughout the year.
