Debate Club
Debate Club at Loreto St Michael's
We are immensely proud of our thriving Debate Club at Loreto St Michael’s, where students are given the opportunity to develop their confidence, articulate their ideas and engage thoughtfully with a variety of topics and perspectives.
Debating encourages students to think critically, speak persuasively and listen attentively. It challenges them to consider different viewpoints, formulate compelling arguments and express themselves ferociously with clarity and conviction thus forming invaluable skills that extend far beyond our debate group. These skills will serve them throughout their academic and professional lives.
Our wonderful students have represented Loreto St Michael’s with great distinction in prestigious competitions, including the Concern Debates, Leinster Schools Debates and the Soroptimist Public Speaking Competition. We are particularly proud of their enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges and support one another.
Whether you love speaking in front of an audience or the thought of it makes you nervous, Debate Club is for everyone! You don’t have to consider yourself a confident speaker to get involved, confidence is something that grows with practice, encouragement and experience.
A huge well done to all of our students who have represented Loreto St Michael’s so brilliantly. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved so far!
Think you have something to say? Come along and give debating a try — you might just surprise yourself!
