Please see photos attached which were taken at today’s Wellread Award in Portlaoise. The Literacy & Library committee were represented by two students: Nicole Sweeney, Nirat Satsangi with their teachers Ms Deegan and Ms Rigney.
 
This award was achieved based on the school’s portfolio outlining the numerous literacy initiatives aimed at promoting reading for pleasure throughout the whole school community

Information on WELLREAD:

Wellread National Award was inaugurated in 2015 to honour the fantastic promotion of reading for pleasure by schools across the country.
 
The Wellread National Award aims to promote the development of a reading culture in school communities because research has shown that this supports the personal and academic development of young people. The award requires the involvement of all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, the board of management, and the wider community in reading and associated activities. 
 
Well done and congratulations to everyone involved in promoting literacy and reading in our school.
