Our super 1st Year girls put on another commanding display after winning the Loreto Cup in Mullingar last week. Our superb ladies showed up magnificently again at the MDL yesterday, seeing off St Peter’s College Dunboyne with a terrific 5–2 victory that oozed confidence and attacking flair.
From the first whistle, our girls set the tempo, moving the ball sharply and pressing high up the pitch. That pressure paid dividends as LUCY DOYLE ran the show up front, bagging a superb hat-trick with a mix of clever movement and cool finishing that kept the St Peters Dunboyne back line on the ropes all afternoon.
St Peter’s had their moments and managed to hit back with two goals, but every time they threatened, our side responded with real composure. ZARA CHAMBERS added to the tally with a well-taken goal, latching onto play at the right moment and making no mistake. The icing on the cake came from POPPY KIERAN who found the net to cap off a strong all-round team performance.
At the back, the defence battled arduously and stayed organised, while the midfield worked tirelessly, winning second balls and keeping the pressure on until the final whistle.
A well deserved win, a brilliant team effort, and a statement result to kick on from. Plenty to be proud of after another cracking day at the MDL!!
