Last week, Our Junior Soccer team played against Warrenmount last week in the Shield Competition.
The Loreto girls started strongly, with Jane Smyth scoring an early goal just 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the game. Katie McNally delivered a superb corner, and Aoife Barry powered the ball into the back of the net. Lucy Doyle made a lightning-fast run down the wing, while Jane Smyth fired a brilliant strike into the bottom corner. Poppy Kieran battled fiercely in midfield as Jane completed her hat-trick before coming off in the fifteenth minute.
Lucy continued her outstanding performance, scoring two excellent goals to claim her hat-trick. Poppy was unlucky not to score with a strong header, and Ruby McDonald put in some determined tackles in the centre. Ellie Ratty showed great pace on the wing, Andrea O’Reilly impressed with precise passing, and Kayla Chambers was rock-solid in defence. The referee then called half-time.
The second half began with great energy as Ellie Ratty found the net with a well-taken goal. Cadhla Butler delivered a perfectly placed cross, and Lucy Doyle fired home another unstoppable strike.
The back line stood firm and organised, with Kayla Chambers, Sylvia McDonnell, Sadhbh Walsh, and Amelia Freyne defending bravely and confidently. Bella Rose Callaghan made an excellent save, but the opposition reacted quickly to slot home the rebound. Christine lynch put in some great tackles soon after Eileen quinlin took a brave shot on goals but was unlucky to miss .what an amazing performance from the whole team the final score was 10-1
