To celebrate World Book Day 2026, the First Year students from Loreto St Michael’s attended The Telling Tales Loreto Literary Festival at Trinity College Dublin. Throughout the day, they took part in a series of engaging 90-minute specialised workshops led by published professionals, exploring storytelling, poetry, creative writing, fantasy writing, illustration and broadcasting. The festival also featured inspiring keynote addresses and a student showcase. This year’s outstanding line-up included:
• Patricia Forde, Laureate na nÓg
• Niall de Búrca, world-renowned storyteller
• Alison Weatherby, detective novel supremo
• Steve Ellis, comic book artist and author
• Dave Rudden, author and co-founder, who also served as MC for the day
Each student received a free book signed by the authors, making an already exciting experience even more special. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring day for all involved.
