Trips abroad have become an important part of life in St. Michael’s. Traditionally tours were organised to London and Paris. The” new era “of trips began in 1995 with a trip to Paris and Switzerland. Since then the school has visited Scotland in 1997, Paris in 1998, Stratford-Upon-Avon and London in 2000 and our highlight was in 2001 when we visited Beijing, China. This was a fantastic cultural experience, a stopover in another capital city Copenhagen to see the Little Mermaid and then on to Beijing, home of the Olympics 2004. Visits included the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and of course the Great Wall. A trip of a lifetime! .
Trips in St. Michael’s are open to senior cycle students - Transition Year and Fifth Year. Destinations are chosen a year in advance so as to allow for regular saving. Students are enriched and bring with them lifetime memories when they leave school.
Loreto St Michael's introduced a 2nd Year Ski Trip in 2017.
The trips to date have visited the slopes of Bormio, Italy and Sierra Nevada, Spain. It is an exciting and unique first foreign trip with friends for most of the 2nd year students. The students get to develop their skiing skills, experience new cultures with their peers during their 5 full days of supervised ski lessons and 6 nights in their full board accommodation. While on the trip, Apres Ski is a highlight for all involved. It consists of Fashion Shows, Quiz Night, the Tour Disco and the 'Loreto Ski Awards Night' organised by the accompanying teachers.
The Ski Trip has a limit of 50 students and similar to the School Tour, the destination is selected a year in advance to allow for payments to be made in installments.
