The Literacy & Library committee were represented by two students: Nicole Sweeney, Nirat Satsangi with their teachers Ms Deegan and Ms Rigney at the Wellread Awards In Portlaoise.
The Wellread National Award was inaugurated in 2015 to honour the fantastic promotion of reading for pleasure by schools across the country.
It aims to promote the development of a reading culture in school communities because research has shown that this supports the personal and academic development of young people. The award requires the involvement of all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, the board of management, and the wider community in reading and associated activities.
This award was achieved based on the school’s portfolio outlining the numerous literacy initiatives aimed at promoting reading for pleasure throughout the whole school community
