We recently joined 21 other Loreto secondary schools from across the island of Ireland for a Jubilee Pilgrimage of Hope to Knock Shrine, Mayo!
It was a meaningful day dedicated to celebrating the shared history and beautiful ethos of Loreto schools. We reflected on the HOPE of Mary Ward, who inspired us all greatly 400 years ago, whilst also honouring Teresa Ball, who brought that beautiful vision to life in Ireland.
To begin the event, Sr. Elizabeth Cotter and Grainne O’ Hamlin provided thought provoking insights into the rich history of Mary Ward. Pope Francis kindness, compassion and sincerity was acknowledged by many on the day.
Bishop Paul Dempsey led a memorable Eucharistic celebration, with each Loreto school represented by a candle bearing its school crest. He also provided us with a beautiful homily, his beautiful insights will never be forgotten.
We extend our gratitude to our wondering 22 5th and 6th Year students who proudly represented our wonderful school on the day. A special thank you to our superb 5th Year student, Esther Bakre. Thank you for carrying our school’s candle to the altar during the Eucharistic celebration and for also leading the planning of our Pilgrimage of Hope to Knock slideshow.
Loreto St Michael’s made a thousand Sunflower Seeds of Hope for all of the Loreto secondary schools in Ireland. We hope that our fellow Loreto schools enjoy watching HOPE grow! We can’t wait to celebrate the magic of Loreto schools together at next year’s pilgrimage
