Green Schools National Spring Clean Event

Green Schools National Spring Clean Event

Each year An Taisce organise a National Spring Clean event. In 2021, 5,548 groups registered to carry out clean-ups throughout the country . Volunteers who participated in the Spring Clean 2021 collected an estimated 2,800 tonnes of litter!! Today, as part of the 2022 An Taisce National Spring Clean campaign, the Green Schools litter committee did a major litter pick in Councillor Andy Brennan Park and the Boyne Rampart. Navan county council provided the equipment and Katie Cromwell led the team. As a direct result of their efforts today the area is now a more attractive, relaxing amenity for the local community. The Green Schools litter committee was set up in the past 3 months, since then they have done an excellent job organising daily lunch time litter picks around the school. The litter picking rota is organised on a class by class basis and each week a different student co-ordinates and leads the pick. The committee is made up of highly driven students who are conscientious and passionate about the environment. They have many projects in mind for next year, and I have no doubt they will achieve them and create a more environmentally friendly environment for us all here at St. Michaels. Well done girls!
