Welcome back after Easter

Welcome back after Easter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to virtual school to all girls. I hope you are all safe and well and got some sort of restful break over Easter. We are now entering the last term of the school year....

Huge congratulations to the Transition year girls on winning the overall Future Leaders challenge as part of the HSE Stay Connected Challenge for two weeks in a row. They have won €800 in O'Neill's equipment for the school. Well done to Laura Brady on her interview on LMFM about the Leaving Cert and the Covid19.

I'm enclosing Minister McHugh's press release in relation to the exams on April the 10th. This is an ever changing landscape. When we as a school know more, we will keep you up to date on the school's iClassCMS App and the new school website (which we hope will go live this week!). For the moment the only certainty is that we are working remotely until the 5th of May for all students. I would like to say thank you to all who have already registered on the iClass App - there has been a very high sign up rate with well over 85% of our parents/guardians already registered. We are still waiting on a final date from Flexibuzz but we expect it to cease operating very soon so it is imperative to register with iClass if you have not already done so.

Students in St Michael's have engaged tremendously well with the teachers on Google Classroom and we need the girls to continue to do this. Teachers, parents and students are aware this is a more difficult teaching and learning experience, however in these circumstances it is important that we are patient with each other as a lot of issues are outside people's control. All school years except 6th years will be working towards some form of school assessment/exam at the end of May including 3rd years. The 6th years will have a state exam during the summer. Ms Finlay sent out a survey form to the 6th years last Thursday around the availability of digital devices, this is important information for us to know, especially if students have no access. If your daughter has not yet responded to the survey, could you please encourage her to do so.

The HSE provides a Stress Control programme free online. The programme is for adults, but those under 18 years old are encouraged to participate with their parents. It may be a useful programme for Leaving Certificate students and/or their parents, and/or school staff to access for support at this time.
