CPR 4 Schools
This term class Tara completed the ‘CPR 4 Schools’ course. The programme aims to train a generation of life savers who will respond in the event of any cardiac emergency and not be afraid to help. We watched a series of short videos explaining why performing CPR is important, a demonstration on a real-life example of a cardiac arrest, breakdown of scenarios and how to perform compressions. At the end of these videos we practised performing CPR on the manikins. We then learnt the difference between a cardiac arrest and a stroke which was very important as many people did not know the difference. We learned how to use an AED properly and where the AED is kept in the school. At the end of the course everyone received a certificate from The Irish Heart Foundation.
